Room 1-04: The Game Show

Don't even think about entering the Game Show -- also known as "Let's Vindiqo!" -- without sound. You're going to need every sense activated to beat this robotic fiend.

Question 1: Is Vindiqo Good?

What do you think?

Actually, scratch that. It doesn't matter what you think. It only matters what the Vindiqo board thinks, and they think that -- much like Tony the Tiger -- they're grrrrreat!

Tap answer C on the Vinditron machine.

Question 2: Do you love Vindiqo?

It doesn't matter if you love them.

Lie. That's the only way to get past this. Just lie.

Tap answer C on the Vinditron machine.

Question 3: What Year Was Vindiqo Officially Founded? (Hint)

Take a little stroll. Leave the studio. Maybe some exercise and fresh air might get your mental gears turning.

And you'll need to tap the Vinditron screen to type your answer.

Question 3: What Year Was Vindiqo Officially Founded? (Answer)

Did you see the Vindiqo poster in the hallway?

Yep, they've officially been around since 1764. (Although we all know about Emperor Nero's connections to the company, right? Is this a lack of continuity, or a lack of corporate honesty?)

Question 4: What's Vindiqo's Budget Airline Called? (Hint)

Again, take a little stroll. Retrace your steps. You may have missed something.

Question 4: What's Vindiqo's Budget Airline Called? (Answer)

At the entrance, you passed a poster advertising the infamous VindiqAir.

Ignore their poor service record. Forget the delays, the cancellations, and the headline-making salmonella outbreak. Just remember the tagline: "We Care at VindiqAir."

Question 4: What's Vindiqo's Budget Airline Called? (Answer)

At the entrance, you passed a poster advertising the infamous VindiqAir.

Ignore their poor service record. Forget the delays, the cancellations, and the salmonella outbreak. Just remember the tagline: "We Care at VindiqAir."

Question 5: What's Vindiqo's Robotics Division? (Hint)

Where in this game show would you expect to find the answer to this question?

Really. Where?

Question 5: What's Vindiqo's Robotics Division? (Hint 2)

The first hint came in the spoken question, "You've really got your back covered."

So does the robot host. but his back's cover is only held on by screws.

Thank goodness you've still got that screwdriver!

Question 5: What's Vindiqo's Robotics Division? (Answer)

VindiBot!

Question 6: What's in the dots and dashes? (Hint)

Find the morse code cheat sheet. Can you hear anything around there?

What do you hear?

Question 6: What's in the dots and dashes? (Hint 2)

Dash dash dot dash.

Dash dash dot dash.

Dash dash dot dash.

Question 6: What's in the dots and dashes? (Answer)

Oh, okay -- it's the letter Q.

Question 7: Where in North Korea does Vindiqo produce toys? (Hint)

Vindiqo is certainly not above breaking UN sanctions (at time of press) or cultural mores by outsourcing their toy production to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. But in what Korean city is their toy factory based?

Well, you could revisit Room 1-11, The Maze. It's definitely mentioned there. Or instead you could just climb the staircase topped by two rows of green buttons.

Could those be a sequence puzzle?

Question 7: Where in North Korea does Vindiqo produce toys? (Answer)

If you solve the sequence puzzle, rush back down to the stage while the timer ticks away, you'll see what the spotlights reveal.

"Nampo, North Korea." Yep, Nampo is the answer to this one.

Question 8: What is the Chairman of Vindiqo's last name? (Hint)

First, the answer isn't "Edison." He's the Eternal President of Vindiqo, not the Chairman. (The Chairman, did we mention, is a shadowey character in The Stormglass Protocol novel, available today from B&N and Amazon.com.)

You might want to think about the fact that you've still got the screwdriver. Maybe that would help somewhere?

Question 8: What is the Chairman of Vindiqo's last name? (Hint 2)

Try using the screwdriver in the hallway. On the air duct!

Where ever will that lead?

Question 8: What is the Chairman of Vindiqo's last name? (Answer)

Crawling through the duct tunnel leads to another control room, where a number of dusty employee photos hang on the walls. Many of these might just be the creators of the game. (Shhh!) But dangling in the middle of them all is a portrait of The Chairman, Herz Kaufman.

He's a Vindiqo legend.

While you're here, why not try a brain pill?

Question 9: What was Vindiqo's 1957 Language? (Hint)

You might want to return to the Control Room. Perhaps there was a hint there....

Question 9: What was Vindiqo's 1957 Language? (Answer)

In the Control Room, notice the old book on that table. Remember Esperanto? This was Vindiqo's response.

A little known fact: Vindiqese is still used in courtrooms in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Curious, right?

Question 10: What was the first name of Vindiqo's popular cartoon prune? (Hint)

Remember those tokens scattered around on the table in the Control Room?

Wonder what they're for...?

Question 10: What was the first name of Vindiqo's popular cartoon prune? (Hint 2)

Vindiqo-brand prunes, huh? Wonder how popular those were?

Probably just about as popular as that dusty untouched button on the Splurge Soda machine in the hallway. Maybe if you grab a couple tokens from the Control Room you'll be able to find out.

Question 10: What was the first name of Vindiqo's popular cartoon prune? (Answer)

Petey Prune Prunes!!! As the old jingle goes,
If you really want to go,
And if you really need to go,
Well then all you need to know,
Is Petey Prunes! From Vindiqo!

Petey Loves Prunes.

Question 11: How many billion cans of Splurge Soda were sold yesterday? (Hint)

Listen to the robot's words. "You must be feeling elevated!" "The number is going to be high!"

Wonder what he's hinting at...
